Pet Microscopy

Our in-house microscope allows us to examine samples from your pet and diagnose conditions.

At our in-house lab, microscopy is one of the diagnostic tests we run to examine lumps or other abnormalities in your dog or cat’s body. Our microscope gives us the advantage of exploring samples that we wouldn’t normally be able to see with the naked eye. It’s helpful for accurate diagnosis and early detection of certain health issues.

What is microscopy?

Microscopy is a diagnostic tool we use when we need insights into any lumps or abnormalities in your dog or cat’s body. The procedures we use to collect samples for examination are non-invasive. With the help of a microscope, we can examine parasites in fecal samples, cell samples, and skin conditions and perform urinalysis. They’re vital to providing more accurate diagnosis since we’re able to magnify samples from your dog or cat’s body that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to see.

What kinds of conditions can microscopy diagnose?

One of the benefits of performing microscopy in-house is we’re able to have a quicker turnaround on a diagnosis, compared to if we have to send samples out to be examined. We use microscopy to support a range of diagnoses, including:

  • Parasitic infections
  • Skin conditions
  • Cancers
  • Gastrointestinal conditions
  • Urinary tract conditions

How quickly will I get microscopy results?

Our veterinary team works as quickly as possible to get the results of our diagnostic tests back to you. In addition to ensuring the timely delivery of results, we can work hard to provide a high degree of accuracy. With each test, the goal is to gain information that will support your dog or cat’s health. If you have questions about microscopy, please contact us at 306-373-3500.
